E.J.SPN

by Eamonn Brennan in Media | January 16th, 2008

Thanks to a helpful hat-tip from the IDS’ Basketblog — who I presume were able to catch this video early in the day because they are college students not soullessly working the 9-5 — here’s a video of Eric Gordon’s appearance on ESPN’s “First Take.” (Those of you unfamiliar with “First Take”: It’s “Cold Pizza” with 90 percent more Skip Bayless, which is always a blast.)

Anyway, E.J. talks about the player he most models his game after (it’s not who you think), why he wears No. 23, and a whole bunch of other topics. Enjoy.

  • Mr. C
He didn't seem nervous at all.

haha c'mon go easy on him...I would consider myself a very confident public speaker, but I can relate even as a current IU student I could not imagine how nervous I would be during an interview on ESPN. I mean we all grew up watching and dreaming one day to be on ESPN. EJ after all is only 19, honestly how many of us at that age would have done any better?

He had a tough time because there's not an ounce of vanity in that kid's body. He's had so many people tell him how great he his for the past 5-8 years and he still trips up on a second-rate ESPN show. It's the same after games when he gets interviewed, he just doesn't like talking about himself.

If he weren't such a gym rat, I'd say that's a negative. But, a guy who shoots 25 foot stepbacks with hands in their face doesn't lack confidince in his game. He just isn't a jackass.

I have heard EJ say he really doesn't like interviews and all the attention....which is why I recommend he hires me as his agent...(only kidding NCAA and Myles Brand)
  • Tom
Sometimes EJ reminds me of "no-neck" Williams especially with that sweatshirt.
