I know DJ had a great game and another double double but
did you notice that Ellis also had a double double with 10 points
and 10 assists to go with his 7 rebounds. It has been a long time since a small forward had 10 assists.

Is there a point to the message, “Sampson you can call me anytime.”? Is it supportive, derogitory, or nuetral toward Sampson and his repeated violations? It just does not make much sense to me.

An update on Gordon – HoosierNation says “Gordon’s injury isn’t believed to be serious and Sampson said he expects him to start Saturday against Kentucky. His absence in the second half was largely precautionary.” – My fingers are crossed that this information is correct.

A few random thoughts and notes:
1) Let’s hope Eric is OK.
2) I cannot understand why our big guys rotate so far out from the basket on defense. Its maddening to see DJ go out pass the free throw line on defense.
3) I’d let that Price kid play for me anytime – impressive
4) Right now, we’re a better zone defense team (it prevents item #2 above, helps to stop penetration by guards and is (I think) helping our rebounding
5) Went to Joe’s on Weed St in Chicago to watch the game. I was one of 2 IU fans in the back room. A Monday night game at 6pm Central I’m guessing. It made for a very strange experience.
6) On the way out, ran into Illini Coach Bruce Weber who was there for some radio show. My fellow IU fan asked for a photo with him. Weber was very gracious and obliged him. Yes, we had been drinking a little but my God we loved the silliness of it (and I can now blackmail the crap out of my friend for doing such a thing).
7) I’m heading to Assembly Hall for the UK game this weekend. I am hoping that Ashley Judd decides to attend so that I can get a photo with her.

We played a very poor second half in my opinion because we weren’t giving D.J. enough touches. The guy was clearly in “domination mode” after 20 first half points. Why not let him touch the ball more and get him on SportsCenter?

Our guards lost focus in the second half. I think it was a combination of not having Gordon out there to beat the press (which was done quite well by TSU) along with being a little too sloppy on the passing end.

Gordon would have been able to shut down that Bruce Price kid had he been healthy, so let’s not worry about that aspect of the game too much.

Can’t wait to see the atmosphere in Bloomington on Saturday (from my TV in Chicago…) If you go to the game, defend that homecourt by getting extremely LOUD…and intoxicated.
