A basketball grant is a privilege and a right. Innocent until proven guilty is for the legal system not for the basketball program. Smelling of marijuana and cutting class is enough to raise a red-flag for me. No athlete’s on court abilities are worth his on court abilities.

I agree in allowing all the facts to come out. As we all know Bud Mackey “will” play college basketball somewhere, if it is not IU as we live in a forgiving society.

The major concerning/disturbing part for me is …it is one thing to use/smell like marijuana it is entire other beast to have crack cocaine. That is a serious serious drug that I hope he is not using. Even having access to that drug could mean you are hanging with some serious/shady people.

We will see how this story plays out…..for all involved. I will stay away from Indystar blog cause the stupidity on there I read about KS was idiotic. For that matter if you fire him fire his parents, teachers, etc etc.

Sampson’s only responsibility in this is to look at the facts and make the right call. He has no control over what Mackey does because he’s not under his supervision at IU. There were no signs of this being a problem, therefore, I wouldn’t blame Sampson in this situation and to suggest his firing is downright ridiculous.

Unless there is a case of mistaken identity or something we don’t know about, most people would argue that it would be best to cut ties with Mackey. However, I think Sampson will hear all of the facts before making a decision on Mackey’s future at IU.

The details in the Herald Leader this morning don’t sound good. I would say Mackey playing at IU are the least of his worries right now. $10,000 cash bond and he smelled like marijuana when they caught him. Not good.
