not to harp on this point, but it’s just that i’ve never thought about this. i really agree that it is kind of ridiculous to name a freshman to the preseason first team. theres nothing wrong with hype or predictions, but preseason rankings should be based on prior experience and performances at the college level. like i said, i’ve never thought of it that way, but i like the phrase Big A used, “they first need to earn it at this level.”

To include Gordon would be tough given we haven’t seen a second of him in a college game. I would agree with Big A as it relates to frosh being all preseason big 10….even Oden. EJ has the talent to make it happen but I say let him earn it first just as a DJ has……

I am containing myself with the hype, although I am huge Gordon fan/IU fan….will he have an Oden final 4 final game impact…Oh do I hope so…

Right and I would have said the same thing about Oden and Conley last year. I don’t have a problem with a freshman making the first team all conference or winning player of the year. However, they first need to earn it at this level.

Big A–remember Greg Oden? He was anoited last year. Gordon’e impact will be greater for IU than Oden–why? because Oden had Conley and because Gordon’s a guard who will probably get 20 plus shots a game.

As good as Gordon is, and trust me I love him as much as anyone, you can't anoint someone first team all league and player of the year before they step onto the court for the first time.

Eric Gordon is projected as a top 3 NBA pick in 2008—not only should he be on the first team, but also POY.

I really think this year you will see the best of DJ White. I have heard KS talk about that swagger he has and I saw late in last season and in the tourney but not fully. I think he knows he is healthy, he is hungry, and he has help. Last years team 100% depended on him whereas this years team will not. That relieves pressure and allows DJ to play free! That is scary for opposing Big Ten Teams.

DJ enjoy the one on one match ups this year, I cannot see you getting a ton of double teams with EJ, Jamarcus, and Armon. Coach Whiner and your son Matt P. Pick your poison….
